PROFESSIONAL DRIVER IMPROVEMENT COURSE
This Professional Driver Improvement Course (PDIC) is specifically designed for drivers in the transportation industry as both a refresher on safe driving attitudes and techniques and an introduction to new safe driving concepts.
The course is divided into 8 modules, which can be completed at the learners’ pace and does not have to be completed in one sitting. Each module utilizes a variety of interactive scenarios, videos, and knowledge checks to help provide an engaging and memorable learning experience.
PDIC COURSE ASSESSMENT:
A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Participants are able to repeat the course as many times as is needed if the pass mark is not achieved on the first attempt.

Course Outline
1. Driver Attitude
The first section of this online course will go over the basics of safe driving, statistics, and navigation fundamentals. You will be led through the most common statistics in driver and passenger injuries, what constitutes a preventable and non-preventable collision, as well as learn how to navigate this course.
2. Driving Conditions
Section two provides an overview of the many driving conditions that you will face as a commuter, which covers both natural conditions and the maintenance required to overcome them. Weather and traffic levels play a part in driving conditions, and can be overcome safely through practice and understanding your vehicle.
3. Collision Prevention
Section three will give you an understanding of the most common vehicle collisions, which can involve other vehicles, wildlife, and pedestrians, or can happen due to unexpected failures on your own behalf or those of your car. As well, you will go over what to do after a collision has happened.
4. Fatigue Management
Section four is dedicated to explaining how fatigue will impact your ability to drive a vehicle, understanding and recognizing fatigue in yourself or the driver of the vehicle, as well as strategies to eliminate fatigue and perform a self-assessment.
5. Impaired Driving
Section five of this course provides an overview of the statistics of impaired driving, which can be caused by alcohol and other drugs. The course also goes over the individual’s responsibility to not get behind the wheel, and be aware of those who may also operate a vehicle.
6. Emergency Preparedness
The final section of this online professional driver improvement course is about how to act during an emergency while driving. This section will go over situations such as skid control, collision avoidance, wheel drop off, and tire blowout. As well, you will learn what to do after an emergency situation has happened, and who to contact.
